Having dreams (definition: a cherished aspiration or ambition) are important to have in our lives.  They can excite us, give us hope and direction.  Dreams can also cause us stress if they haven’t yet come to fruition.

Last week a friend of mine said that it’s hard to “give up” on the dream she’s had for herself for over 10 years.  The language we use is so important.  “Giving up” can feel like failure and disappointment. Where is your dream today when looking at the options here:
  • A. I still plan on making this dream come true. (The key word is making – taking action. Awesome!)
  • B. This dream needs to have the doors closed on it and I need to get comfortable with that. (Acceptance! It’s a healthy step for us to be able to move on)
  • C. The dream from 10 years ago needs to be adjusted and will look different. I’m moving forward. (Adapting as we grow -Progress!)

Have you ever looked back and said, “Wow I can’t believe I am still at the same place I was last year!”

Examples:
  • You are still in the same job or position that you vowed, to yourself, you were leaving.
  • Your health is the same or worse than last year.
  • You have dreams of furthering your education, professional development or fitness BUT money, time, and other reasons have gotten in the way.

Make changes. Take Control.

The framework for making a dream a Reality!
  1. Have a Dream.
  2. Get more specific and write out a strong clear Vision.
  3. Determine your first Goal to achieve towards the vision.
  4. Create a Plan for that goal.
  5. Take Action on the plan. (follow through!)
  6. Review every week how it’s been going and what has NOT been going well with the plan (we learn from both elements, our successes and our struggles)
  7. Make Adjustments and keep going.  A bad food day, a bad sales day, a bad negative attitude day does not mean that it’s a bad goal. The goal may be too big or too hard when first created. Adjust the goal so that it is achievable.

For example: if you want to walk 10,000 steps a day but you miss it almost every day.  Adjust that goal and achieve 5,000 steps a day. It would be outstanding!  Increase it the following week to 6,000 steps then 7,000 steps and so on, until you get to achievement of 10,000 steps a day.

Consistent attainment of smaller goals adds to our Confidence, Self-Esteem and Belief in our ability. We always want the big goals attained on the first try but usually it’s the attainment of smaller goals that gets us to where we ultimately want to be.

Following a framework gives us CONTROL in making progress.  Start now by working towards the dreams you ache to have as your reality.  Freshen up a past dream, create a NEW exciting dream and follow a PLAN to achieving success!

LOVE this article Diane!

You bring up a really good point about the big goals vs. small goals. Oftentimes, failure in the goal attainment space is because I focused on the gigantic goal instead of the small, incremental goals. Which, when achieved, create confidence. This, overtime, allows me to continue to expand the 'scope' of my goals.

Great read!

Your right on target MaryBeth!

We may not think small goals are as exciting as the big goals but what IS very exciting is the ACHIEVEMENT of all the smaller goals. Succeeding over and over builds the desire to strive for new things, harder things and the knowledge that it’s attainable for you. Thanks for reading!

Diane, this article is very helpful to me right now. The framework you outline for making my dream a reality is a great reminder of what I must do to achieve success. In about 12 weeks, my goal is to feel better, be healthier and look the best I have looked in a long time. So, today, I will write down a clean and strong vision statement, create my plan and then check it every Monday to see what progress I have made. Wish me luck! I need encouragement!

After being in relationship with Wilson for seven years,he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to someone online and she suggested that I should contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that don’t believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I meant a spell caster called Dr Zuma zuk and I email him, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my partner will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4pm. My partner called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return home, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him, that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem and i said i will share my testimony to others. Anybody could need the help of the spell caster, his email: spiritualherbalisthealing@gmail.com or WhatsApp him +15068001647 you can email him if you need his assistance in your relationship or anything. CONTACT HIM NOW FOR SOLUTION TO ALL YOUR PROBLEMS
